Cerith Wyn Evans at THYSSEN BORNEMISZA ART CONTEMPORARY, Augarten Wien

In The What If?... Scenario (after LG) TBA21 shows Cerith Wyn Evans’s luminous works, collected by TBA21 over 10 years, for the first time together. Cerith Wyn Evans literally sets the stage for a multitude of potentialities, contingencies, and uncertainties about given conditions and structures of what we see and what we know and how we come to know without ever solidifying his position into a positivist affirmation but rather remaining suspended in "weak connections". Wyn Evans’s artistic strategy interrupts our habitual access to the world of objects and meanings by disrupting our associative and (re-)cognitive patterns, locating gaps, hinting at subliminal associations, anecdotal slippages, contingencies, and errors in translation. Curated by Daniela Zyman. July 5 - November 3, 2013

In der Ausstellung "The What If?... 5.07. - 03.11.2013

THREE VOLUMES at SECESSION: ROBERT IRWIN, THOMAS LOCHER, ROSSELLA BISCOTTI

In the SECESSION’s main gallery US artist ROBERT IRWIN presents his “site-conditioned” installation Double Blind, with the themes of perception and experience, with light, aesthetics, and questions of reality and illusion. “The one subject of art is the pure perception of humans to see and see again.” In Homo Oeconomicus the german artist THOMAS LOCHER treats aspects of exchange, structures of credit, belief, and credibility, and the impact of these notions on the constitution of the subject. In The Side Room ROSSELLA BISCOTTI shows results of her Venetian dream project (Laboratorio Onirico) with inmates of the Venetian women’s prison on Giudecca Island. In an hour-long audio editing allows the women participating in the project to speak for themselves. Portraits of the speakers made by one of the dreamers hang on the walls. July 5 – September 1, 2013.

5. Juli – 1. September 2013.
