The art brut center gugging has put together an amazing August Walla retrosprective of more than 400 works from all periods of his artistic life. Together with his impressing paintings and drawings the show contains not only sculptures and installations, but also photographies and documentations of land art pieces. His innovative approaches, when creating his own cosmos thru his art strikes us today with their modernity. Curated by Johann Feilacher. Until Oct 28, 2012.

Johann Feilacher hat für das art brut center gugging die große Retrospektive "august walla.! weltallende" mit mehr als 400 Werken aus allen Schaffensperioden kuratiert. Neben den beeindruckenden großformatigen Gemälden und Zeichnungen von August Walla sind auch Skulpturen und Installationen, Schriftbilder, Konkrete Literatur, Fotografien und Land Art zu sehen. Die verwendeten Mittel bei der Entwicklung seines eigenen künstlerischen Kosmos berühren mit ihrer Frische und Modernität und zeigen Walla als eigenständigen innovativen Künstler. Zur Ausstellung ist ein umfangreicher, aufwändig gestalteter Katalog in vier Bänden erschienen. 29. März – 28. Oktober 2012.

Gallerywalk in March at Schleifmühlgasse+

For the first time together Ricardo Brey and Jimmie Durham show their works "looking at my own work (and his)" at Gallery Christine König (until Apr. 28, 2012). Gallery Kerstin Engholm presents "Sedimente" by Rafal Bujnowski, Axel Koschier and Astrid Wagner (till Apr. 27, 2012).
Gabriele Senn shows photographie by Kerstin von Gabain from her time in Japan. Georg Kargl has put together a show called "1964 Ein Stimmungsbild" with various austrian and international artists and architects from Richard Artschwager and Günther Brus to Marcel Duchamps, Hans Hollein, Andy Warhol and Tom Wesselmann (until Apr. 28, 2012).
The new Gallery RennerPrinz shows works by Andrey Klassen and Sarah Pichlkostner "________ we do have a problem" and Andreas Huber presents Carola Dertnig "Again Audience" until May 5, 2012.

Artists: Rouven Dürr , Robert Gfader, Maria Hanl, Ulrike Königshofer, Johannes Kubin, Marianne Lang, Catherine Ludwig, Karin M. Pfeifer, Kirstin Rogge, Astrid Steinbrecher, Sula Zimmerberger.

Kerstin von Gabain präsentiert Photographien, die während eines Japanaufenthaltes entstanden sind in der Galerie Senn. "1964" entwirft " Ein Stimmungsbild" in der Galerie Georg Kargl mit zahlreichen in- und ausländischen Künstlern und Architekten von Richard Artschwager und Günther Brus über Marcel Duchamps, und Hans Hollein bis Andy Warhol und Tom Wesselmann.
Die junge Galerie RennerPrinz zeigt Arbeiten von Andrey Klassen und Sarah Pichlkostner "________ we do have a problem" und Andreas Huber präsentiert Carola Dertnig in einer Einzelausstellung "Again Audience".
In der Schikanedergasse hat flat1 zum ersten mal seine Türen geöffnet: "Und die Rechnung geht an Martin K." mit Rouven Dürr , Robert Gfader, Maria Hanl, Ulrike Königshofer, Johannes Kubin, Marianne Lang, Catherine Ludwig, Karin M. Pfeifer, Kirstin Rogge, Astrid Steinbrecher, Sula Zimmerberger.

Close-up – GUSTAV KLIMT ~ GERWALD ROCKENSCHAUB – Plattform at SECESSION

Gerwald Rockenshaub sculptural intervention in the SECESSION allows visitors to view Klimt's Beethoven Frieze from unusual perspectives and viewpoints - at eye level. Rockenschaub about his work: "Up to a certain point, the platform is also supposed to appear in this setting as a work of art, not just as purely functional architecture." Additional material give insight in the history and restaurational problems of the frieze Until Nov 4, 2012

Gerwald Rockenschaub eröffnet dem Besucher mit seiner Intervention in der SECESSION neue Perspektiven und Sichtweisen auf Klimts Beethovenfries - auf Augenhöhe. So ist die Plattform nicht nur rein funktionale Architektur sondern tritt als eigenständiges Kunstwerk in Dialog mit dem Raum und Klimts Wandgemälde. Zusätzliches Material veranschaulicht Geschichte des Frieses und restauratorische und kunsthistorische Fragen. 23. März – 4. November 2012

Gustav Klimt's Cartoons for Stoclet House at MAK

For the 150th anniversary of Gustav Klimt's birthday the MAK puts the nine cartoons for the mosaic frieze in the dining hall of Stoclet House, Brussels, at the center of the exhibition "GUSTAV KLIMT: Expectation and Fulfillment". After several years of restoration, the cartoons are now again presented in the Permanent Collection. The exhibition is completed with drawings of various design pieces for the Stoclet House by architect Joseph Hoffmann and works by other artists of the Wiener Werkstätte, who contributed to this gesamtkunstwerk. Until July 15, 2012.

Die Ausstellung GUSTAV KLIMT: ERWARTUNG UND ERFÜLLUNG im MAK zeigt die Entwurfszeichnungen zum Mosaikfries im Palais Stoclet, die zu den wichtigsten Exponaten des Museums zählen. Nach mehrjähriger Restaurierung sind die neun Kartons jetzt wieder in der MAK-Schausammlung präsentiert. 
Die Schau gibt Einblicke in den Entstehungsprozess des Frieses und Klimts Arbeitsweise und zeigt die Familie Stoclet als wesentlichem Auftraggeber der Wiener Werkstätte in Entwurfszeichnungen von Joseph Hoffmann und anderen Künstlern für das Gesamtkunstwerk des Palais. 21.03.2012 - 15.07.2012
