Carl Spitzweg, Erwin Wurm at LEOPOLD MUSEUM

Some 130 years after Carl Spitzweg's death, the Leopold Museum is dedicating the first comprehensive exhibition in Austria complemented by works created by the Austrian sculptor and photographic artist Erwin Wurm. The German artist Spitzweg (1808–1885) was a humorous and critical analyst of his time whose ironic works depict petit bourgeois and odd characters within their illusory Biedermeier world. The juxtaposition of the two artists’ works illustrates how they both deploy humor in order to analyze their respective eras in a critical manner. Curator: Hans-Peter Wipplinger. Rund 130 Jahre nach seinem Tod präsentiert das Leopold Museum Carl Spitzweg in seiner ersten umfassenden Ausstellung in Österreich, gemeinsam mit Werken des österreichischen Bildhauers und Fotokünstlers Erwin Wurm. Dabei wird evident, dass beide Künstler eine kritische Reflexion ihrer Zeit mit den Mitteln des Humors in ihren Arbeiten praktizieren. Der deutsche Künstler Spitzweg (1808–1885) gilt als humorvoller Zeitkritiker, der in seinen ironischen Arbeiten die damaligen Spießbürger und Sonderlinge in ihrer biedermeierlichen Scheinwelt widerspiegelt. While Karin Engholm Gallery is closed due to a a sabbatical Carter is guest with American Painting at Georg Kargl Fine Arts. At unttld contemporary it's all about Of Myths and Men by Michael Wutz.

Christine König Galerie präsentiert Neue Malerei von THOMAS HARTMANN unter dem Titel Direkter Umweg und im THIRD ROOM kann man mit Gerhard Rühm schöner wohnen. Gallery walk Eschenbachgasse March 2017

After the successful renovation of the gallery Meyer Kainer shows works by Martina Steckholzer. Gallery Krobath has a Girl with pigeon and its copies by Dominik Lang on display (sorry for the bad picture quality due to the fluorecent light). Gallery Steinek hosts a group show about KeramiK with Jessica Lajard, Barbara Reisinger, Jeanne Susplugas, Elmar Trenkwalder and Gerold Tusch, curated by Dietgard Grimmer.

Nach dem sehr gelungenen Umbau der Galerie zeigt Mayer Kainer Arbeiten von Martina Steckholzer. In der Galerie Krobath ist das Girl with pigeon and its copies von Dominik Lang zusehen. Galerie Steinek präsentiert eine Gruppenausstellung zum Thema KeramiK mit Jessica Lajard, Barbara Reisinger, Jeanne Susplugas, Elmar Trenkwalder und Gerold Tusch, kuratiert von Dietgard Grimmer.

Camille Henrot at Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz

Camille Henrot's If Wishes Were Horses at the Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz comprises an entirely new body of work produced for the occasion – sculpture, installation and a film. The different elements that comprise the show unfold a choreography and comprehensive dialogue, drawing upon formal structures and raising questions that derive from Henrot’s greater investigation on the human propensity toward dependency. Curator: Luca Lo Pinto, March 22nd to May 28th, 2017.

Camille Henrots "If Wishes Were Horses" in der Kunsthalle Wien am Karlsplatz besteht zur Gänze aus speziell für diese Ausstellung entstandenen Arbeiten: Skulpturen, eine Installation und einem Film. Die einzelnen Elemente der Ausstellung stehen in einem intensiven Dialog, greifen auf formale Strukturen zurück und werfen Fragen auf, die sich aus Henrots umfassender Untersuchung der menschlichen Neigung zur Abhängigkeit ergeben.
