Adolf Frohner at ESSL MUSEUM

At the occasion of Adolf Frohner’s 80th birthday the ESSL MUSEUM presents the retrospective „adolf frohner (1934 - 2007) five decades of painting, graphics, object“. The show covers a wide range, including Actionist objects and abstract graphic art from the 1960s or Frohner’s portraits of women from the 1970s on canvas, paper and in the form of collages, such as "Gib mir den Schuh Eva (Adam und Eva)". Central paintings from the 1980s and 90s and the triptych "Das Leben, der Tod, ich - oder Sokrates", as well as key examples of his sculptural work, such as "Denkmal für Alberto Giacometti", complete the retrospective look at his oeuvre. Curators: Dieter Ronte and Elisabeth Voggeneder. Sep 7th, 2014 – April 6th,2015. The exhibition is a co-operation with the Forum Frohner in Krems, who presents an exhibition on the early works by the artist in dialogue with contemporaries.

Zum 80sten Geburtstag von Adolf Frohner zeigt das ESSL MUSEUM die Retrospektive „adolf frohner (1934–2007) fünf jahrzehnte malerei, grafik, objekt“. Die Schau spannt den Bogen von aktionistischen Objekten über abstrahierte Grafiken der sechziger Jahre bis hin zu zwischen Malerei, Grafik und Collage changierenden Frauenbildern der siebziger Jahre wie "Gib mir den Schuh Eva (Adam und Eva)". Zentrale Gemälde aus den achtziger und neunziger Jahren wie das Triptychon "Das Leben, der Tod, ich - oder Sokrates" sowie Schlüsselwerke des plastischen Oeuvres wie das "Denkmal für Alberto Giacometti" runden den Gang durch sein Lebenswerk ab. Kuratoren: Dieter Ronte und Elisabeth Voggeneder. 07.09.2014–06.04.2015. Die Ausstellung findet in Kooperation mit dem Forum Frohner in Krems statt, das zeitgleich in seinen Räumlichkeiten eine Schau zum Frühwerk des Künstlers im Dialog mit Zeitgenossen präsentiert.
