More Than This (2016), US female artist Lutz Bacher’s installation in the SECESSION’s main hall, is composed of a loose arrangement of found objects: a bunch of large tube joints made of industrial plastic and covered with dust and dirt are scattered over the floor, while a fragmented frieze runs across the wall. The exhibition space and its visitors are immersed in the ambient sound of birdsong and the almost imperceptibly gradually changing light.
With Floors/Doors/Windows/Walls Dike Blair presents around fifty paintings. Most date from the years between 2010 and 2015, and with few exceptions, they depict the motifs listed in the prosaic title of his show. Three sculptures the American artist designed for the exhibition are arrangements of the titular four elements—floor, door, window, wall—but were also a response to the fact that his exhibition occupies four rooms. More Than This, die Installation der US-amerikanische Künstlerin Lutz Bacher im Hauptraum der SECESSION, besteht aus einer Ansammlung gefundener Objekte: Eine Anzahl großer, mit Staub und Dreck überzogener Rohrverbindungsstücke aus Industriekunststoff ist über den Boden verstreut, während sich ein Fries bruchstückhaft über die Wände zieht. Die BesucherInnen sind im Ausstellungsraum von Vogelgezwitscher umhüllt und in ein Licht getaucht, das sich beinahe unmerklich, aber stetig verändert.
Dike Blair zeigt mit Floors/Doors/Windows/Walls rund 50 Gouachen, die größtenteils zwischen 2010 und 2015 entstanden sind und die in der nüchternen Aufzählung des Titels erwähnten Motive darstellen. Drei Skulpturen greifen die vier titelgebenden Elemente Boden, Tür, Fenster, Wand auf. 12. Februar – 3. April 2016.
