The Martin Kippenberger (born 1953 in Dortmund, died 1997 in Vienna) exhibition of the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien is devoted to the medium of “language”, which Kippenberger favoured throughout his oeuvre. His manic work tempo, the habit of integrating “everything and everyone” into his artistic work, also a unique ability to get scent of the contradictions in the zeitgeist, break ground primarily through language – on the level of the picture title, as text in picture, the pun and the bad joke, misunderstanding, the slogan, as rhyme or also in the form of artists’ books, stickers and posters. The exhibition is being produced in close cooperation with the Estate of Martin Kippenberger, Galerie Gisela Capitain/Cologne. Curator: Lisa Ortner-Kreil. Sep 8th to Nov 27th, 2016.
Die Martin Kippenberger des Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien widmet sich Kippenbergers durchwegs bevorzugtem Medium „Sprache“. Sein rasantes Arbeitstempo, die Angewohnheit „alles und jeden“ in seine künstlerische Arbeit einzubeziehen, sowie ein untrügliches Gespür für die Aufdeckung zeitgeistiger Widersprüche, brechen sich vorrangig via Sprache Bahn – auf Bildtitel-Ebene, als Text im Bild, Wortwitz und schlechter Witz, Missverständnis, Slogan, als Reim oder auch in Form von Künstlerbüchern, Stickern und Plakaten. Die Ausstellung wurde in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Estate of Martin Kippenberger, Galerie Gisela Capitain/Cologne konzipiert. Kuratorin: Lisa Ortner-Kreil. 08.09. - 27.11.2016.
