Claude Monet at ALBERTINA

The ALBERTINA is devoting a large monographic exhibition to Claude Monet’s treatment of color illuminating Monet’s development from realism to impressionism and onward to a mode of painting in which colors and light gradually separate from the subjects that reflect them, with the motif breaking free from mere observation of nature. Eventually, albeit only after Monet’s death, these late works would pave the way for abstract expressionism in painting. 21.09.2018 – 06.012019.

Die ALBERTINA widmet sich in einer großen, monografischen Claude Monet Ausstellungem seinem Werdegang vom Realismus über den Impressionismus bis hin zu einer Malweise und einem Farbkonzept, bei dem sich die Farben und das Licht allmählich vom Gegenstand lösen und das Motiv von der Naturbeobachtung unabhängig wird. Mit seinem Spätwerk bereitet Monet erst nach seinem Tod der Malerei des abstrakten Expressionismus den Boden. 21.09.2018 – 06.012019.
