LOOK at HEIDI HORTEN COLLECTION

The exhibition "LOOK" of the HEIDI HORTEN COLLECTION is a tribute to the founder of the museum, Heidi Goëss-Horten. It spotlights art and fashion and their inspiring interplay at the museum HEIDI HORTEN COLLECTION. The “look” of women and looking at women, as well as other aspects associated with the feminine, are key themes in the Heidi Horten Collection. Based on these topics, the exhibition explores various thematic questions in eight chapters. 21.10.2022 – 16.04.2023.

Die erste Themenausstellung der HEIDI HORTEN COLLECTION “LOOK” ist eine Hommage an die Museumsgründerin Heidi Goëss-Horten. In der Ausstellung werden zwei Aspekte im Mittelpunkt stehen, die im Museum ein inspirierendes Wechselspiel eingehen: Kunst und Mode. Ausgehend von einem Schwerpunkt innerhalb der Heidi Horten Collection – das Bild der Frau und der Blick auf Frauen sowie verschiedene Aspekte, die mit Weiblichkeit verbunden werden –, entwirft die Ausstellung acht Kapitel mit unterschiedlichen thematischen Fragestellungen. 21.10.2022 – 16.04.2023.

Helmut Newton Legacy at Kunstforum Vienna

The retrospective Helmut Newton Legacy at the Kunstforum Vienna shows 300 or more works that document Newton’s complete oeuvre. Newton is primarily renowned for his photos of women: powerful, aggressive, self-assertive – naked and dressed – they challenge the viewer. Newton’s career developed first and foremost through his fashion photography – which is the focus of this exhibition. Newton first started photographing nudes in the 1980s and with his style probed social and moral limits. The exhibition was created to celebrate Newtons 100th birthday in 2020 presents iconic photos and also works that have never been on show before. Curated by Matthias Harder (Director & Curator Helmut Newton Foundation Berlin) and Evelyn Benesch (Curator Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien). 19.10.2022 – 15.01.2023.

Die Retrospektive Helmut Newton Legacy im Kunstforum Wien umfasst mit ca. 300 Arbeiten, die Newtons gesamtes Schaffen dokumentieren. Newton ist in erster Linie durch seine Frauenbilder bekannt. Im Zentrum dieser Ausstellung steht seine Modefotografie, erst in den 1980er Jahren wandte Newton sich der Aktfotografie zu, mit denen er gesellschaftlich-moralische Grenzen austestete. Die Schau zum 100sten Geburtstag Newtons in 2020 präsentiert seine ikonischen Fotos aber auch bis dato nicht gezeigten Arbeiten, sie beleuchtet damit auch unbekanntere Aspekte aus Newtons Welt und lenkt den Blick auf ein Gesamtwerk im Spannungsfeld zwischen Kunst und Kommerz.
