Parallel Vienna 2014, the platform for contemporary art, is located within the spacious premises of the old custom office in the third district. Parallel Vienna 2014 assembles a variety of artist associations, selected galleries, artist run spaces, rooms curated by project initiatives, as well as individual artists. COSIMA VON BONIN at mumok

With HIPPIES USE SIDE DOOR. THE YEAR 2014 HAS LOST THE PLOT. the mumok presents a large exhibition of works by Cosima von Bonin: more than 100 works, ranging from her earliest to completely new works and including longstanding colleagues and friends in her exhibition projects. For this exhibition the mumok facade gains a new balcony, with a vomiting Pinocchio figure standing on it. Curated by Karola Kraus. Oct 4th, 2014 to Jan 18th, 2015.

Das mumok präsentiert mit „HIPPIES USE SIDE DOOR. DAS JAHR 2014 HAT EIN RAD AB.“ eine umfassendste Retrospektive Cosima von Bonins: Über 100 Arbeiten von den künstlerischen Anfängen bis hin zu ganz neuen Arbeiten unter Einbeziehung langjähriger KollegInnen und FreundInnen. Als Blickfang zur Ausstellung prangt an der Fassade des mumok ein Balkon mit einer sich übergebenden Pinocchio-Figur. Kuratiert von Karola Kraus. 04.10.2014 bis 18. 01.2015.

VIENNAFAIR 2014 The New Contemporary

In it’s 10th year the focus of the VIENNAFAIR 2014 The New Contemporary is on concentration. The number of participating galleries has gone down from 127 in 2013 to 99 this year. The clear goal is to acchive higher quality in galleries and art works. Romania is the focus country of the OMV sponsored project DIALOG: NEW ENERGIE. An extensive accompanying program include special exhibitions and a dedicated program for collectors and visitors. Oct 2nd to Oct 5th, 2014.

VIENNAFAIR 2014 The New Contemporary - die Wiener Kunstmesse ist in ihrem zehnten Jahr um Konzentration und Konsolidierung bemüht. Die Anzahl der teilnehmenden Galerien wurde auf 99 reduziert (2013 waren es 127), die Qualität der gezeigten Werke gesteigert. Schwerpunktland des von der OMV unterstützten Projekts DIALOG: NEW ENERGIE ist heuer Rumänien. Auch heute findet wieder ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm statt. Der Emerging Gallery Prize geht Galerie Raum mit Licht, den Established Gallery Prize erhält Georg Kargl Fine Arts und der International Gallery Prize geht an Monika Branicka und AsiaŻak Persons, GalerieŻAK | BRANICKA, Berlin/Krakau. 02.10.-05.10.2014.

Blue Times at Kunsthalle

The group exhibition Blue Times at Kunsthalle Wien presents works by over thirty international artists showing associative social history of the colour blue, focussing on its psychological, metaphorical and associative power, but also its instrumentalisation for ideological, political and economic purposes. From the conceptual wordplay of Lawrence Weiner’s OUT OF THE BLUE to Derek Jarman’s ode to the colour blue. From Walid Raad’s monochrome pictures over Remco Torenbosch’s study of the flag of the European Union to Raed Yassin’s Chinese vases filled with the inscriptions of other cultures and Jonathan Monk’s world map made out of blue work clothes. The Blue Salon expands the exhibition into the broader field of cultural history and will host workshops, roundtable talks and music and film nights. Die Gruppenausstellung Blue Times in der Kunsthalle Wien versammelt über dreißig internationale künstlerische Positionen, um eine assoziative Sozialgeschichte der Farbe zu entwerfen, die ihre psychologische, metaphorische, und assoziative Kraft thematisiert, aber auch ihre Instrumentalisierung zu ideologischen, politischen oder ökonomischen Zwecken. Von Lawrence Weiners konzeptuellem Wortspiel OUT OF THE BLUE über Derek Jarmans Ode an die Farbe Blau bis zu Walid Raads monochromen Bildern, Remco Torenboschs Studie über die Flagge der Europäischen Union, Raed Yassins Aufladung chinesischer Vasen mit anderen kulturellen Einschreibungen und Jonathan Monks Weltkarte aus blauer Arbeitskleidung. Der Blaue Salon erweitert die Ausstellung in den Bereich der Kulturgeschichte hinein. An ausgewählten Tagen aktiviert sich der Blaue Salon: Unter dem Titel Blau machen finden Workshops, Roundtable-Gespräche, Musik- und Filmabende statt.
