Sophie Hirsch at Viktor Bucher & Lotte Lyon at Lisa Ruyter

In her solo show "heut schau ich mir schöne Bilder an damit ich besser schlafen kann" at project space Viktor Bucher Sophie Hirsch presents three huge objects made from plastic foile (until March 17, 2012) and with "Souterrain" Lotte Lyon is reacting to the Lisa Ruyter's art space in her installations and photographies (only until March 3, 2012).

Im Projektraum Viktor Bucher zeigt Sophie Hirsch in ihrer Einzelausstellung "heut schau ich mir schöne Bilder an damit ich besser schlafen kann" drei große Objekte aus Plastikfolie (bis zum 17. März 2012) und mit "Souterrain" setzt sich Lotte Lyon in ihren Installationen und Fotographien mit den räumlichen Gegebenheiten des Kunstraum Lisa Ruyter auseinande (nur noch bis zum 3. März 2012).

Klimt: Up Cose and Personal at Leopold Museum

Celebrating Gustav Klimt’s 150th birthday the exhibition focuses on chief works from the Leopold Museum’s own collection, accompanied by early works and singular loans (mostly his famous landscapes) from important Austrian and international collections, as well as drawings from all periods of his artistic career. The show is complemented by numerous contemporary photographs, items from his own art and furniture collection, personal memorabilia and approximately 400 written documents sent by Klimt to his life’s companion Emilie Flöge. Additionaly part of Klimt’s studio has been reconstructed. Until Aug 27, 2012.

Anlässlich Gustav Klimts 150 Geburtstag nähert sich das Leopold Museum der Person des Künstlers nicht nur über Schlüsselwerke aus der eigenen und ausgewählten Gemälden, vornehmlich seine berühmten Landschaften, aus anderen wichtigen Sammlungen, an. Neben Zeichnungen aus allen Schaffensperioden werden auch zahlreiche zeitgenössische Fotografien, Stücke aus Klimts eigener Kunstsammlung und persönliche Memorabilien und vor allem ca. 400 Briefe und Postkarten an seine Lebensgefährtin Emilie Flöge gezeigt und Teile seines Ateliers in der Josefstädter Straße wurden mit Originalmöbeln rekonstruiert. Zur Ausstellung ist ein umfangreicher Katalog erschienen. 24.02. - 27.08.2012

Rudolf Stingel & Michael Snow at SECESSION

With three works that form kind of a spacial tryptychon Rudolf Stingel gives the main room of the Secession a melancholy and sacral aura. Downstairs canadian painter, sculptor, musician, photographer and filmaker Michael Snow installed recent works. Until Apr 15, 2012

Der 1956 in Meran geborene und heute in New York lebende Rudolf Stingel schafft im Hauptraum der Secession mit drei Werken, die wie ein räumliches Tryptychon gehängt sind, eine melancholisch, sakrale Atmosphäre. Der kanadische Multikünstler Michael Snow untersucht Strukturen, Verfahren und Grenzen verschiedener Medien und verhandelt dabei Fragen der Wahrnehmung von Wirklichkeit und Kunst. Bis 15. April, 2012.

BEAUTY CONTEST at MUSA

The show "Beauty Contest" is a joint venture of MUSA and the Austrian Cultural Forum New York and was alredy on show in the ACF NY in 2011. This project by austrian and international artist focuses on the human striving for beauty, the omnipresent dictates of beauty and how the individual is still able to maintain his or her freedom. Until May 26, 2012.
