Two new Art Spaces - Sammlung Lenikus & Lisabird's Art Collective

Collection Lenikus at Bauernmarkt just in the center of town, opened it's doors for only a few days. Ursula Maria Probst curated a show called "Crossing Limits: Art in Urban Transitions" with various artist (Katrina Daschner, Aldo Giannotti, Nicolas Jasmin, Sonia Leimer, Kirs Lemsalu, Corinne Rusch and others) as part of VIENNA ART WEEK.
The Lisabird's Art Collective is located in an interesting old building in the Grosse Mohrengasse in the 2nd district: Adel Abidin, Attila Szucs, Benjamin Cohen, Issa Salliander, meapi, Szilard Cseke, Voka, Yared Nigussu. Till Dec 15, 21010.

Die Sammlung Lenikus zeigte am Bauernmarkt im Rahmen der VIENNA ART WEEK leider nur für ein paar Tage die von Ursula Maria Probst kuratierte Schau "Crossing Limits: Art in Urban Transitions" mit verschiedenen Künstlern (Katrina Daschner, Aldo Giannotti, Nicolas Jasmin, Sonia Leimer, Kirs Lemsalu, Corinne Rusch u.a.).
Das Lisabird's Art Collective stellt in seinen sehenswerten Räumlichkeiten in der Grossen Mohrengasse bis zum 15. Dezember aus: Adel Abidin, Attila Szucs, Benjamin Cohen, Issa Salliander, meapi, Szilard Cseke, Voka, Yared Nigussu.

Nach dem großen Erfolg der Ausstellung >Chalo India< im Vorjahr, die etablierte indische Kunst zeigte präsentiert das Essl Museum heuer aktuelle Positionen von 34 jungen indischen KünstlerInnen unter dem Titel >INDIA AWAKENS Under the Banyan Tree<. Die Ausstellung wurde von Alka Pande kuratiert und ermöglicht so erstmals auch einen "indischen" Blick. Die Sammlung Essl hat alle Arbeiten angekauft und will die Schau in anderen europäischen Museen zeigen.

Street art tour with Clemens Wolf, Vienna Art Week

theartVIEw joins Clemens Wolf (former street) artist, who shows us around the 7th district of Vienna: At the Street Art Passage in the MQ we meet Vitus Weh, one of the publishers of the street art magazine "betonblumen". In the Siebensterngasse we enjoy high up on the wall the newest work by Claudio Ethos and end up at Inoperable, an art space where Martha Cooper shows her famous photographies of the street art sceen in NYC in the 70th and 80th. The street art tour was part of VIENNA ART WEEK

Clemens Wolf Künstler und selbst früher in der Street Art Scene zeigt uns aktuelle Urban Art im 7. Bezirk von Wien: In der Street Art Passage im MQ treffen wir Vitus Weh, einen der Herausgeber des Street Art Magazins "betonblumen", in der Siebensterngasse hat Claudio Ethos vor kurzem ein neues Werk angebracht. In der Urban Art Galerie Inoperable zeigt Martha Cooper ihre berühmten Fotos der Grafittiscene in den 70er und 80er Jahren in NYC. Die Tour war Teil von VIENNA ART WEEK.

21er Haus construction site tour (in german)

theartVIEw has a look at the 21er Haus construction site. Director Agnes Husslein-Arco shows us around (in german). The reopening of this museum for austrian modern and contemporary art near the new Viennese Hauptbahnhof is planned for September 2011.

21er Haus Baustellenführung mit Direktorin Agnes Husslein-Arco. Die Wiedereröffnung dieses Museums für österreichische moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst im internationalen Zusammenhang ist für September 2011 geplant. Rund um den neuen Hauptbahnhof und einem neu entstehenden Stadtteil befindet sich dann eine Kunstmeile vom Arsenal bis zum Unteren Belvedere und Kunst vom Mittelalter bis heute.

"Direct Art" at MUMOK - Viennese Actionism in an International Context

MUMOK presents the Viennese Actionism in an international context: Gutai, Nouveau Réalisme, Fluxus, Pop Art and Happenings expanded art beyond the traditional easel painting. Found objects, unusual substances and the human body were the new "materials" to create an art that was more "real". And because of the radical nature of their artistic steps austrian artist like Nitsch, Brus, Muehl and Schwarzkogler occasionally even outstripped their international contemporaries like Yves Klein, Rauschenberg, Warhol, Christo, Beuys, Vostell.

Das MUMOK zeigt den Wiener Aktionismus im internationalen Kontext: Gutai, Nouveau Réalisme, Fluxus, Pop Art und Happening erweiterten den Kunstbegriff weit über die traditionell Vorstellung hinaus, gefundene Objekte, neue Materialen und der menschliche Körper wurden einbezogen,um die Kunst von ihrem Sockel zu holen und näher zum realen Leben zu bringen. Dabei gingen die österreichischen Künstler wie Nitsch, Brus, Muehl und Schwarzkogler mitunter radikaler vor als ihre Kollegen in anderen Ländern wie Yves Klein, Rauschenberg, Warhol, Christo, Beuys, Vostell.

"eyes on" Part 1, Month of Photography at Wien Bibliothek, Anker Brotfabrik und k/haus

In "eyes on" Part 1 theartVIEw visits a small photo exhibition with great photos of the fading away post war Vienna by Trude Lukasek at the Wien Bibliothek and two shows at the Anker Brotfabrik: "The Singled Person" by seven artists of the KUNSTNETZWERK and "Rhythm of the City" by Gebietsbetreuung 10. Plus two photo shows at k/haus: "The Great Escape" a collaboration of several artists. And polaroids by Gregor Schmoll "From the privat collection".


Im ersten Teil zu "eyes on" Monat der Fotografie besucht theartVIEw eine kleine Ausstellung mit Fotos des langsam verschwindenden Wien der Nachkriegszeit von Trude Lukasek in der Wien Bibliothek. In der Anker Brotfabrik finden gleich zwei Ausstellungen zu eyes on statt: "The Singled Person" mit sieben Künstlern des KUNSTNETZWERKS und "Rhythm of the City" von der Gebietsbetreuung 10, die das Ergebnis eines Wettbewerbs für Bürger des zehnten Bezirkes zeigt.
Zwei Fotoausstellungen zeigt das k/haus: "The Great Escape", eine Zusammenarbeit von mehreren Künstlern. Und Polaroids von Gregor Schmoll "Aus der Privatsammlung".

"Power Up - Female Pop Art" at Kunsthalle Wien
