FRANZ ZADRAZIL at Essl Museum

The Essl Museum shows more than 60 works and additional BW photographies in the big "Franz Zadrazil - Vienna Paris New York" retrospective. Old and decaying house facades with layers upon layers of advertisements became an underlying theme for his whole work. At first, Zadrazil found his motifs primarily in his home city of Vienna, later also in Paris and above all in New York. For the first time works from the last years can be seen, in which the artist’s motifs deal with the decay of riveted metal advertising signs. May 30th - Oct 28th, 2012.

Das Essl Museum zeigt eine umfangreiche Franz Zadrazil Retrospektive "Wien Paris New York"mit über 60 Werken und ergänzenden Schwarzweissfotografien. Hausfassaden als Motive seiner Malerei findet Zadrazil zunächst in seiner Heimatstadt Wien, später aber auch in Paris und vor allem in New York. In den letzten Jahren vor seinem Tod 2005 setzte er sich mit dem Verfall von genieteten Metallreklameschildern auseinander. Kuratoren: Andreas Hoffer in Zusammenarbeit mit Andrea Kasamas. 30.05. – 28.10.2012.
