With Chagall to Malevich the ALBERTINA presents 130 masterpieces of the Russian avant-garde from between 1910 to 1920. Works by Mikhail Larionov, Natalia Goncharova, Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, and Marc Chagall illustrate fundamentally different styles and their dynamic development from primitivism to cubo-futurism and on to suprematism, as well the chronological parallels between figurative expressionism and pure abstraction. Eleven chapters trace the brief epoch of most diverse and radical movements that were diametrically opposed to one another. The exhibition is a cooperation of the Albertina, Vienna and the State Russian Museum, Saint Petersburg. Feb 26th to June 26th, 2016.

Die ALBERTINA zeigt mit "Chagall bis Malewitsch" eine großangelegte Schau von 130 Meisterwerken der Russischen Avantgarde von 1910 bis 1920. Werke von Michail Larionow, Natalia Gontscharowa, Kasimir Malewitsch, Wassily Kandinsky oder Marc Chagall illustrieren die grundverschiedenen Stile, ihre dynamische Entwicklung vom Primitivismus über Kubo-Futurismus bis zum Suprematismus sowie die zeitlichen Parallelen von gegenständlichem Expressionismus und reiner Abstraktion. In elf Kapiteln wird die kurze Epoche der russischen Avantgarde als Drama der einander diametral gegenüberstehender, konkurrierenden Programme sicht- und erlebbar gemacht. Die Ausstellung ist eine Kooperation der Albertina, Wien und dem Staatlichen Russischen Museum, Sankt Petersburg.26.02. - 26.06.2016.
