Antarctica. An Exhibition on Alienation at the Kunsthalle Wien looks at the pattern underlying alienation – this “relationship based on the absence of a relationship.” Showing numerous contemporary artworks; the exhibition explores how the term “alienation” functions in our world today. In doing so, it also addresses the following question: What other forms of relationship to the self and to the world do we need? Before we can even begin to create something like a space supportive of self-determination and self-realization? Curators: Vanessa Joan Müller, Nicolaus Schafhausen. 25.10.2018– 17.2.2019.

Antarktika. Eine Ausstellung über Entfremdung in der Kunsthalle Wien blickt auf das der Entfremdung grundlegende Muster einer „Beziehung der Beziehungslosigkeit“ und spürt dem Begriff in seiner Aktualität sowie den daran geknüpften soziologischen Befunden in zahlreichen zeitgenössischen Werken nach. Angesprochen ist damit auch die Frage, welche anderen Formen des Welt- und Selbstbezugs es braucht, um überhaupt so etwas wie Raum für Selbstbestimmung und Selbstverwirklichung zu schaffen.
